So what would you do if one day your favorite fairy tales prince begin to talk and asking you to help him get out of his book?
Insane, right? Super unbelievably crazy but I'd do anything to have my dream prince in my real world, like Beast or that handsome Cinderella's Prince.
That was exactly happened with Delilah. She's just an ordinary fifteen years old girl who loves to read a children fairy tale book about a prince named Oliver. Every character on Oliver's book are having their own mind, it's like one dimensional world but real and every time the reader opens up the book, all of them were only act like the story written for them. Once the reader closes the book, the characters free to do and roam everywhere on the book.
Oliver saw glimpse of Delilah's world when she read the book and he wanted to escape from his story. He doesn't like his story life, as a coward prince who saves a kidnapped princess and their story ended with a happily ever after note, just like any other fairy tales. Plus actually Oliver doesn't love his princess and he hates to act like a coward prince over and over again. So when he knew Delilah could hear his voice, he immediately asked her to help him out of the book.
Jodi Picoult and her daughter really have a unique idea I've never heard and think of before. Once I read the blurb, I'm sold, super exited to read it. It's like all little girl's dream come true, to get to know our prince charming personally from our favorite book.
The illustrations are on point and I like how they use different ink color for different POV.
My negative points from this book are I felt there are some parts that didn't necessary in this book, we wouldn't lose anything if some of the chapters got deleted and also I don't like the ending. The ending was good but I don't like how they resolve the issue, especially about Edgar's choice.
That being said, I like this book and it was an easy reading.
Is it really worth dying for the person you love?"
She thinks about this for a moment. "That's not the real question, Oliver. What you should be asking is, can you live without her?
Rating 3/5 fairy tales stars.
