Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha van Leer (Between the Lines #1) Review

So what would you do if one day your favorite fairy tales prince begin to talk and asking you to help him get out of his book?
Insane, right? Super unbelievably crazy but I'd do anything to have my dream prince in my real world, like Beast or that handsome Cinderella's Prince.

That was exactly happened with Delilah. She's just an ordinary fifteen years old girl who loves to read a children fairy tale book about a prince named Oliver. Every character on Oliver's book are having their own mind, it's like one dimensional world but real and every time the reader opens up the book, all of them were only act like the story written for them. Once the reader closes the book, the characters free to do and roam everywhere on the book.
Oliver saw glimpse of Delilah's world when she read the book and he wanted to escape from his story. He doesn't like his story life, as a coward prince who saves a kidnapped princess and their story ended with a happily ever after note, just like any other fairy tales. Plus actually Oliver doesn't love his princess and he hates to act like a coward prince over and over again. So when he knew Delilah could hear his voice, he immediately asked her to help him out of the book.

Jodi Picoult and her daughter really have a unique idea I've never heard and think of before. Once I read the blurb, I'm sold, super exited to read it. It's like all little girl's dream come true, to get to know our prince charming personally from our favorite book.
The illustrations are on point and I like how they use different ink color for different POV.
My negative points from this book are I felt there are some parts that didn't necessary in this book, we wouldn't lose anything if some of the chapters got deleted and also I don't like the ending. The ending was good but I don't like how they resolve the issue, especially about Edgar's choice.
That being said, I like this book and it was an easy reading.

Is it really worth dying for the person you love?"
She thinks about this for a moment. "That's not the real question, Oliver. What you should be asking is, can you live without her?
Rating 3/5 fairy tales stars.

Last Game Manga by Shinobu Amano

Okay, this is review for volume 1-9:

Meet Yanagi, a fifth grader boy who used to get number one ranking in his school, champions in all sports meetings plus he is son of the large resort hotel president. And also he's a good looking boy. ❤
It was all started when there's a transfer girl in Yanagi's class, Mikoto Kujou. Yanagi's first impression of her is "nothing special and gloomy". kekeke
But then this girl caught his interest. She got perfect scores in academics and at sports as well.
Yanagi wonders how can this new plain girl took his number one position??

Yanagi: "You're just a transfer student. Don't be so arrogant. You just got several good marks by accident, don't get carried away!"
Kujou ignored him
Yanagi: "I'm the successor of Liu's resort and the son of the president"
Kujou: "I don't care if you're the son of the president or what, it doesn't mean you're excellent too.
Kujou: "Your father maybe amazing, but you are not"
Bwahahahahahaha.. I loved this scene. Good job, Mikoto!

And so ten years has passed, they are college students now but Yanagi still being on number two in everything. =] He made a deal with himself, he will turns Kujou from ignorant to fancy him and then he will refuse her without mercy. It would be his great victory.
But later he realize that his own deal has been back stabbed him, instead he made Kujou falling for him, what happened was the opposite.

I really enjoy reading last game, it has so many adorable moments between Yanagi and Kujou. Akkkkkk.. And it took quite long time for Kujou to realize her strange feeling is love.
Can't wait to read volume 10, just confess already both of you!!!! Arrrrrrr grrrrrrrr...

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera Review

You can't always choose who you're going to be. Sometimes you're fast enough to run track. Sometimes you're not.
I have mixed feelings about this book. One side, I like what Adam offered but the other side I didn't really connect with the main character, Aaron, at least at the first half of this book.
It really hard for me to get drawn over Aaron's thoughts, there are some scenes that I feel too much information, or maybe Adam's writing is just not my cup of tea.

Put aside about the writing style, I get why everyone seems to love this book. Adam delivered so much thought about what's the struggle being gay. I enjoy more of the second half later when we got to know what was really happened before. It made so much sense.
As for my positive note from this book is it makes you realize that you are what you are, gay or straight. You can't force someone to be the person you want to because everyone has their own preference. Aaron, Genevieve, and Thomas proved it.

Everyone plays a purpose, even fathers who lie to you or leave you behind. Time takes care of all that pain so if someone derails you, it'll be okay eventually.

Zodiac by Romina Russell (Zodiac #1)

I have to admit Romina Russell did an amazing job to create the world, it was beautiful, amazing, and spectacular world. Hey who can ignore a universe with Zodiac for their planet? It was so good to imagine how you can live in a place of your own Zodiac.

For me, it's Virgo and below is Romina's description about live in Virgo:

Moira’s is a benevolent dictatorship. She is a passive monarch who allows her people to police themselves and only interferes when cases are brought before her.

Given their controlling natures, Virgos find it impossible to submit to someone else’s command. So Moira ensures that every household has access to food, water, housing, and education, but she allows her people to make their own decisions about all other aspects of their lives. She has only two commands: Everyone must contribute in some capacity to growing grain, and no Virgo will interfere with the pursuit of happiness of any other.
Cool! Take me there, please. I would absolutely love to live in Virgo.

BUT I had so many problems with its story line. Like how a young girl who knows nothing about saving the world suddenly has a responsibility to be a leader for all of the planets. Rhoma Grace, our protagonist was literally didn't do anything to achieve her title, Holy Mother of Cancer. She was just a normal student who enjoys her senior year. Suddenly there was an explosion and everyone died including their previous Holy Mother, Mother Origene. The next day, the Council of Advisors appoint her to be their next Guardian or their beloved Holy Mother.

When the Zodiac was new
There was a thirteenth star
The first among us knew
But in time we forgot
Now the serpent, he is back
And we must find a way
To push his presence out
Or he’ll be here to stay
Trust in Guardian Rho
She’s our galaxy’s best chance
She’ll make Ochus go
He’ll forget his plans

Ummm. That song was intended to be fun, right? But it failed to make me to laugh.

Not only that, Rhoma was the only one who has seen who is their enemy. SHE IS THAT SPECIAL ONE. There is no other Guardian or Adviser or someone besides her who seen it coming. So, it was her duty to warn another houses that they all are in danger.

My other problem is the romance. I have no problem for love triangle if the author can present it in the right way. But I hate those who played with two hearts at the same time. It's quite disturbing to read about Mathias and Hysan fight and yell at each other and Rho simply do nothing. *sigh*

I may pick the second book because there are so much potential for Zodiac. Please don't ruin it again, Romina.

My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories edited by Stephanie Perkins

Rating: 3.41/5 stars

Okay, after reading this, my favorite turned into:

1. "Star of Bethlehem" by Ally Carter. (5/5 stars)
It's a heartwarming story though the idea isn't really original. I have read several stories about the girls who swapped places. But it still makes me enjoy reading it.

2. My second favorite is "It’s a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown" by Stephanie Perkins (5/5 stars)
I loved her Anna and the French Kiss series especially Anna and Isla's books.
She always manages to have that cuteness on her writing. North, oh I loved North! Where I can find a charming boy who sells Christmas trees??? LoL

3. Polaris is Where You'll Find Me - Jenny Han (4.5/5 stars)

4. Midnights by Rainbow Rowells (4.5/5 stars)

5. What the Hell Have You Done, Sophie Roth? by Gayle Forman (4.5/5 stars)

6. Welcome to Christmas, CA by Kiersten White (4/5 stars)

7. The Girl Who Woke the Dreamer by Laini Taylor (3.5/5 stars)

8. Angels in the Snow by Matt De La Pena (3/5 stars)

9. The Lady and the Fox by Kelly Link (2/5 stars)

10. Beer Bucket and Baby Jesus by Myra Mcentire (2/5 stars)

11. Krampuslauf by Holly Black (2/5 stars)

12. Your Temporary Santa by David Levithan (1/5 stars)
This was my first LGBT reading material. I've read few times about gay couples as supporting character but never read as main character. To be honest, to say I was bit surprised while reading it was understated. Now, one year later, I've read few LGBT and I guess I have a better understanding of it.

You Had Me at "Hello" by Indah Hanaco Review

You Had Me at "Hello" bercerita dari sudut pandang Inanna Grace, seorang perempuan 23 tahun yang masih berkuliah.

Oke, saya adalah penganut perkawinan monogami dan say no to perceraian.

World After by Susan Ee (Penryn & the End of Days #2) Review

Penryn & the End of Days #2

Rating 4.5/5 stars

Outside, the fog has lifted, showing a crisp night with the waning moon and stars reflecting off the ocean. Between us and the sea is a beach blanketed by pieces of wood and glass from pulverized houses. The broken glass reflects the light from the sky like a carpet of flickering fireflies that stretches out as far as I can see. It’s so unexpectedly beautiful that I pause to look at it. How can something so wondrous come out of such devastation?

Once again, I'm hooked with Susan's writing style. She did an excellent choice to describe the narrative.
For me, this sequel is even better than the previous one despite Penryn and Raffe weren't together more than half of the book. And when their reunion takes place, it's just as sweet as it can be. I also enjoyed the banter jokes between Penryn and Raffe when Raffe knew about Pooky Bear. XDD It was my favorite part.
